Global Benchmarking Centre

Community Benchmarking Centre is formed to promote excellence in Churches and Christian organizations through the principles of benchmarking. Community Benchmarking Centre makes benchmarking readily available tools for Churches and Christian organizations.

Benchmarking is used to measure and compare one church program’s processes with other church program processes. The goal of benchmarking is to increase your church program performance by adapting the best practises of your benchmarking church program partners.

The purpose of Benchmarking:

  • Measure the program/project processes

  • Measure the program/project performance

  • Improve the program/project processes

  • Improve Community satisfaction

  • Icrease program/project efficiency

  • Increase program/project effectiveness

Why Benchmarking?

Community - people who come into the churches and use the resources and services. Churches have to think about what the people wants or needs. It requires the church staff member to step into the peoples shoes. Sometimes this can be really hard because church staff understand information and how to find it.

Staff members - how the staff feels affects of their program/project performance and the type of service they deliver.

With benchmarking you will actually measure the program/project processes in the churches. The ultimate goal of measuring the program processes is to improve the processes to make it better, meet the needs of the community, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness.

Church will compare each others measures and then decide whose church program is the highest program/project performer. Higher performer is defined as being“best practiced” churches. This means that this church program/project has the most efficient and effective practices in place.

Then churches will find out the best practiced churches to figure out how their practice works and then modify their program/project to make it work in their church and adapt to it.

This is what benchmarking is all about. It’s kind of like “friendly” knowledge sharing.

So you want to improve your church program’s performance to meet the needs of the communities? How are you going to do it?

By comparing your church program/project to similar program from other churches and finding out who is meeting the needs of the community.

Then identify the other church program procedures they use to meet the need of their community. ie: their communication method, practices, and adopt those processes to your church.
